Every server gets a random two-word address when you register it, such as https://cozy-premiere.watch.coursier.io. You can change it from your server's card in your account, under Change address.

Two ways to change it
| Option | Result | Available on |
|---|---|---|
| Assign a new two-word address | A new random address, for example after you shared the old one too widely. | All plans that allow address changes |
| Choose your own name | A name you pick, such as smith-family.watch.coursier.io: 3 to 40 lowercase letters, digits and dashes, starting and ending with a letter or digit. | Plans that include a custom address |
Each plan allows a set number of address changes; the card shows how many are left. Want an address on a domain you own instead? See Use your own domain.
What happens when you change it
- The old address stops working at once and is never given to anyone else.
- The plugin reconnects with the new address by itself; it can take up to a minute.
- Nothing changes inside Jellyfin: users, libraries and watch history stay as they are.
What to update afterwards
- The server address saved in every Jellyfin app (yours and the people you share with): edit the server or add it again.
- Browser bookmarks.
- If you use your own domain: its CNAME record must point to the new address. See Use your own domain.
A name you choose is easier to remember, and also easier for others to guess. Anyone who guesses it only reaches your Jellyfin sign-in page, like any Jellyfin server on the internet, so strong passwords matter either way.
