Video buffers or stops
Every stream travels: your server → your home upload → the relay → the viewer. The slowest link sets the pace.
- Your home upload speed. Run a speed test from the computer running Jellyfin. If upload is below what's being watched (about 10 Mbps for 1080p), lower the quality.
- Your plan's bandwidth, shared by everyone watching the same server at once. See Plans, data and bandwidth.
- The viewer's connection: hotel and mobile networks can be slow.
- Your server's power. When Jellyfin converts video (transcoding), a slow computer can't keep up. In Jellyfin, Dashboard → Activity shows when a stream is transcoding; consider hardware acceleration under Dashboard → Playback → Transcoding.
Lower the quality
- In the app or the web player, open the playback settings (the gear icon) and choose a lower Quality, for example 1080p 8 Mbps or 720p 4 Mbps.
- To set it for everyone outside your home: Dashboard → Playback → Streaming, Internet streaming bitrate limit. Jellyfin treats Coursier viewers as remote, so the limit applies to them.

"Monthly data allowance used up" page
Your account has used this month's data. Streaming resumes on the date shown (the first of next month, UTC), or within a minute or two of moving to a larger plan. At home, Jellyfin keeps working. See Near and at the limit.

"Too many sign-in attempts"
After 10 failed sign-ins from the same place within 15 minutes, the relay pauses sign-ins from there for 15 minutes, to stop password guessing. Wait, then sign in with the right password. If you forgot it, an administrator can reset it under Dashboard → Users.
